More about Chess Club:

Learn chess with Magnus Academy (formerly Silver Knights), 5x world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time. This in-person club includes free online extras including a ChessKid Gold Membership, weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time. All chess supplies provided. All skill levels are welcome.

More about Spanish Language Club: Open a window to another culture, communicate in Spanish, and make discoveries! Children build practical Spanish skills in a fun, small-group immersion setting with lively games and activities. We’ll learn where Spanish is spoken around the world, explore some customs and traditions, and practice speaking a new language.

Fall session topics include greetings, expressions, calendar, weather, numbers, body parts, colors and shapes, favorite pets, the family, and a birthday party – all in Spanish! Appropriate for beginners who are reading and writing. Grades 2 -5. This is a beginner Spanish language class. Big Learning classes are taught by native speakers of the language they teach.

Classes include workbooks and hands-on activities to promote practical use of the language and support early literacy skills. Each session feature s different topics and themes so children can learn and practice new vocabulary and concepts throughout the school year.
